ProductionShed.TV, in collaboration with Te Wuruhi | Lean Dog has produced a web series called He Paki Taonga i a Māui which can be found on the Māori Television Website and on YouTube!
The series, created by David Brechin-Smith and Yvonne Mackay, features 18 tales about taonga from Te Papa’s Taonga Māori collection, is for tamariki aged 7–11, and is 100% te reo Māori!
Each story is told through partially animated illustrations created by established Māori artists. Each episode is led by our pūkōrero, Māui, played by Kahukura Royal.
He Paki Taonga aims to help kids understand the importance of taonga, and aims to increase understanding of te reo Māori among our tamariki.
